Synopsis
Marlene Bienville's life had evolved into an enviable status. She had a position with the most prestigious law firm in New Orleans. She was engaged to the man she had always wanted to marry. She lived in a comfortable, upscale apartment. How inconceivable that it all began to unravel during the holiday season. First, her fiancé betrayed her. The death of beloved boss was ruled a suicide. She no longer had a job.
Attempting to assist her cousin, Tommie Adams invites Marlene to live with her in Houston and work for a temporary agency. But Marlene is convinced that her boss did not commit suicide and coerces Tommie to join forces in pursuing a hazardous paper trail from New Orleans to Houston. Tempting fate, they delve into the world of bank corruption, politics, and the mob.
